Household Compatibility

Kitten Policy

Kittens may go to homes with children under the age of 5, on a case by case basis.

Kittens under 6 months, must be adopted in pairs or placed in homes  with another cat or a family member who stays at home, as they need playmates and can become bored or lonely if left alone.

Benefits of having a playmate.

They learn boundaries and appropriate behavior (less biting, less destruction from boredom)

Reduces separation anxiety.

Kittens learn boundaries and appropriate behavior through playing with another animal.

Dogs

Homes with dogs will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, considering the dog’s breed, weight, temperament, and experience with cats.

A home visit may be required for households with dogs.
