About Us

Founded in 2007, Austin Siamese Rescue is a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on rescuing and rehoming Siamese cats and their non-Siamese companions. Our goal is to provide a safe haven for cats from various backgrounds, including shelters, abandoned, and neglectful situations, as well as those whose guardians can no longer care for them.

All of our cats are cared for in private homes by dedicated volunteers who offer their time and love to ensure each cat receives the best possible care. We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes where these cats can thrive and be cherished for the rest of their lives.

At Austin Siamese Rescue, we believe every cat deserves a second chance at happiness and a life filled with love. Through our rescue efforts and community support, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of the cats we serve and the families who welcome them into their homes.

PRESIDENT

Sheryl Mackey

Sheryl Mackey began fostering in 2017 after the loss of her Siamese mix, Sammy, and quickly became involved in cat rescue. She started by helping a small, overcrowded shelter in Lampasas, fostering two kittens and transporting a cat for Austin Siamese Rescue (ASR). After fostering for Austin Pets Alive for five years, she joined ASR in 2022, seeking a more personal rescue environment.

In May 2024, Sheryl became ASR’s Board President, bringing over 20 years of corporate and non-profit finance experience. She has helped modernize the organization by introducing digital contracts and online payments. Sheryl lives in Austin with family, her four cats and is proud to work alongside ASR’s dedicated team of board members, fosters and volunteers all driven by the mission to rescue and rehome Siamese and other cats in need.
